Goodwins six points work, Michael & Victor

Goodwin’s six points

Genre Characteristics
-Is mainstream pop
-Dance Routine if featured, but is solo

Visual/ Lyrics
-       This is present as Michael Jackson shows slight distress in the beginning of the video in relation to the lyrics of the song.
-       The entire video he spends travelling to the destination of “Billy Jean, in this way, the entire video is focusing on the lyrics mixing in with the visuals.

Visuals/ Music
-The beat of the music is represented through lights that switch on when he does his signature dance/walk on to them.

Need to Sell Artist
-MJ is dressed in very slick clothing, conveying to the audience that they too, have a chance to be attached to the pop singers charisma
-the “hero”/artist of every video is portrayed as a relatable mainstream outcast.

Intertextuality
- From what I can examine there is no known Intertextuality present, however, the video inspired many modern pop artists to imitate his method of selling.

Voyeurism

-No actual female character for the audience to watch, but the entire video he is stalked by a reporter, the people watching the video could be likened to the character. In addition to this, MJ travels in the video to a girl who’s sleeping, he watches her sleep.
